What's on the Menu at the GPUG Academy "GP Smorgasbord"?

The Most Delectable Smorgasbord You’ll Find… for a GP User, anyway!Maybe you know that a smorgasbord is a table, or buffet, of all sorts of foods, ready for the taking. Is your mouth watering yet? If you dig a little more, you might find that the word is actually Swedish in origin, with some pretty little marks above the letters (Smörgåsbord). Ok, so now you’re probably thinking of the Swedish Chef… and that means you’re getting warmer…Everybody likes a good buffet. A good one has a wide selection of food, and you’re sure to find a lot of things that you’ll really enjoy; and you will always walk away stuffed and satisfied!Enter the GPUG Academy “Microsoft Dynamics GP Smorgasbord”What’s the parallel, you say? This is a class absolutely PACKED with great tips and tricks for the beginner to intermediate GP user. I lay it all out on the table for you, so to speak, and you can stuff yourself (that is, your notebook, camera, tablet, or whatever!) full of as much of that goodness you can take!Umm… the Swedish Chef?Close your eye and imagine what a class about accounting software is like– do you see Ben Stein from Ferris Buller’s Day Off in the front, taking attendance, calling your name in a monotone voice… and you not responding because you’re ALREADY asleep. Well, scrub that image out – If you’re not laughing and having a good time, you probably aren’t in my class. After all, ever since I was a kid, I always wanted to be a Canadian… er, comedienne. I love GP, I love training, and I have fun doing it! I promise I will bring that to the class and you will have a great time! What’s on the menu?Let’s start at home. That is, the Homepage of Microsoft Dynamics GP. You’ll learn how to configure, customize, and really get the most out of the page you probably see the most of, as well as, other “Navigation Basics” like the Navigation Pane, Navigation Lists and the Toolbar. We dive into System and Company setup, with such topics as Posting Setup, Advanced Lookup, and all sorts of goodies revolving around SmartLists.Reporting is very important in any accounting department. Find out how to make GP and Excel BFFs, how to send form letters from GP to Word, and more! There are plenty of tips on Payables Management, Receivables Management, General Ledger and Month-End Close. We will also touch on some features of the “PSTL” (Professional Services Tools Library) and how to use the Letter Writing Assistant – all great topics that will open your eyes to many new features you never knew you really needed! Is this class for me?Do you use GP? Then, yes. :-) Truthfully, this class is aimed at beginning and intermediate users of GP, but it’s not just a surface treatment of the basics – we dive deep to get at the things you might not discover on your own. It is a smorgasbord, after all – there’s something here for everyone!Update: What's in a Name...GPUG Academy at GPUG SummitAt GPUG Summit, the GPUG Smorgasbord class is being renamed to: “Dynamics GP Best Practices: Efficiencies, Tips & Trick for the Newer User”.
